This includes anyone in countries in Central and West Africa, particularly Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Central African Republic, and Ivory Coast, where the virus is currently endemic. In the US, the vaccine is recommended for laboratory workers, animal care and control workers, or members of the military who may be exposed to monkeypox Virus.

Healthcare personnel may also consider vaccination if they work in affected areas.
