Anyone who is not vaccinated against monkey pox is at risk of getting it. Even asymptomatic carriers of the virus can transmit it.
People who are more at risk of monkey pox and have higher chances of developing a severe form of the disease include young children, pregnant women and individuals with a weakened immune system due to other illnesses. It is also common in individuals living in tropical areas or parts of the world with poor hygiene and sanitation amenities.
