Monkeypox is a rare virus that has been identified in many countries across Africa and is more commonly found in Central and West African countries. It is most commonly found in humans, although animals such as monkeys can also contract it. The most affected countries are the Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone, where the virus is endemic and cases of Monkeypox have increased since the 1990s.
