The Monkey Face Orchid (Dracula simia) is an epiphytic orchid native to the cloud forests of Ecuador and Peru. The orchid grows at elevations between 1,000 and 3,000 meters high in humid, shady areas with good air circulation.
It is most commonly found in tropical tree branches and mossy rocks. The orchid gets its name from its “monkey face” flowers, which bloom from February through April.
