ed. Monkey grass, or liriope, is a low-maintenance, evergreen grass that looks well-manicured when cared for properly. The best time to transplant monkey grass is during the early spring or fall when temperatures are cooler and you can get the entire root system in one piece.
Transplant in the morning when the grass is cool and moist for the best outcome. Trim monkey grass to no more than 2 inches and water thoroughly before transplanting.
Dig a hole that is 1/3 larger than the root ball of the monkey grass and add some compost, peat moss, or topsoil to the hole. Position the grass into the hole and backfill the hole with soil, then press lightly and water to settle the soil.
