A monkey makes a variety of sounds depending on the type of monkey and its emotions. Wild monkeys make loud, harsh calls that include animal-like barking and screaming. They may also use a deep hoot to warn other monkeys of danger.
In comparison, domesticated pet monkeys tend to make higher pitched sounds such as “oos” and “ahs,” as well as other noises that resemble human laughter or crying.
