Anyone can be at risk of monkey pox, however, individuals who have an impaired immune system, such as those with HIV/AIDS, are at a significantly higher risk. Other individuals at risk include those who are in close contact with either infected animals or humans, especially those that have open wounds.
Additionally, individuals in some parts of Africa, particularly Central and West Africa, are more likely to become infected due to the limited availability of healthcare in these regions.
