Monkey pox is primarily contracted when a person comes in contact with infected animals, typically rodents, such as squirrels and monkeys, or their droppings. Other ways a person can contract the virus are by coming into contact with an infected person or from the inhalation of particles in the air from a person or animal already infected with the virus. It can also be contracted through the handling of infected clothes, bedding, or other objects that have been contaminated with the virus.
